Night Eagle presents the Tannahill Weavers

    7:30pm – 9:30pm

Night Eagle presents the Tannahill Weavers

First Unitarian Society of Ithaca, 306 N Aurora St, Ithaca, NY 14850, USA

Night Eagle Productions welcomes Scotland’s Tannahill Weavers who bring their dynamic, traditional Celtic music to downtown Ithaca at the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:30 pm.

Over the years the Tannies have been trailblazers for Scottish music, and their tight harmonies and powerful, inventive arrangements have won them fans even beyond the folk and Celtic music scenes. In 2011 the band was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame, and in 2018 they released their highly acclaimed 50th Anniversary album “Orach” on the award-winning label Compass Records. Their most recent release, “Solstice,” earned high praise even from sources outside the usual folk and traditional music scene.

The most exciting change in recent years has been to the band line-up with the additions of Iain MacGillivray and Alistair McCulloch. Iain plays bagpipes and fiddle, speaks and sings Gaelic fluently, and has performed on high-profile projects including Outlander and Men in Kilts. Fiddle player extraordinaire Alistair teaches as a senior fiddle specialist at the Royal Conservatoire in Scotland when not on tour with the Tannies, and performs with his own trio. With Iain, Alistair, Roy, and Phil, The Tannahill Weavers are firmly established as one of the premier groups on the concert stage. From reflecting ballads to footstomping reels and jigs, the variety and range of their music are matched only by their enthusiasm and lively Celtic spirits.

Tickets: $25 in advance; $30 at door day of show https://www.eventbrite.com/e/an-evening-with-the-tannahill-weavers-tickets-1919048388389
