Bitcoin’s Monday price spike featuring an upper wick gave traders a clear re-examination of the previously breached bear-flag support zone, and the market’s response aligned with bearish expectations: a firm rejection. This price action confirmed that the former support level continues to function as resistance, with the daily TBO Fast line also pinpointing the rejection area. The overarching takeaway from today’s market assessment is that crypto risk remains precarious. Both Bitcoin and Ethereum continue to display pronounced bearish traits, dominance metrics keep signaling downward pressure on altcoins, and macroeconomic turbulence is intensifying around the U.S. dollar and the USDJPY pair.
Bitcoin Confirms Bear-Flag Rejection
Bitcoin’s bear-flag support underwent a successful test during Monday’s upper-wick rally, and the price was turned away from that zone, affirming that the bear flag pattern remains active. The chart now indicates a lower objective near $46,870, which sits beneath the next artificial support level around $49,000. Supplementary indicators did not contradict the bearish outlook. Bitcoin stays firmly bearish, with the OBV and TBO remaining negative, volume lacking strength, and the RSI hovering neutrally near 50. In essence, the uptick provided another opportunity for short entries rather than signaling a trend shift.
Ethereum Remains Strong Bearish
Ethereum did not develop a new bear flag, but it also failed to show improvement. Monday’s upper wick reached the TBO Fast line without hitting or regaining previously lost short-term support. Volume was also subdued, so the daily Ethereum assessment stays strongly bearish. This weakness reinforces the broader risk-off environment in crypto. If Bitcoin keeps getting rejected from broken support and Ethereum cannot recover its own support thresholds, altcoin risk will remain heightened.
Dominance Charts Keep the Altcoin-Dump Thesis Alive
Combined stablecoin dominance remains macro bullish as the Slow line continues to trend upward, but Monday’s volatile swings in Bitcoin and Ethereum produced a lower wick that re-entered the TBO Cloud. This development undermines the uptrend and suggests a potential short-term decline or breakdown within the Cloud. The critical level remains TBO Resistance at 12.506%. Until combined stablecoin dominance closes above that threshold, the chart has not fully returned to a safe zone. Meanwhile, BTC.D spiked into the Fast line and TBO Cloud, OTHERS.D fell lower within its Cloud, and OTHERS/BTC closed inside the daily Cloud, shifting from strong bullish to bearish consolidation.
USDJPY Is the Macro Pressure Point
The macroeconomic narrative is growing more pronounced. DXY is approaching 101 and appears short-term overbought, while EURUSD is short-term oversold. The more significant development involves USDJPY, which recorded a new local peak at 161.926 and came within 0.025 of the July 2024 high of 161.951. USDJPY is also building toward a second weekly TBO Breakout with the RSI above 70. The yen is trading near levels not seen since 1986, placing Bank of Japan intervention risk squarely in focus. Should USDJPY experience erratic volatility, Japan-linked risk assets such as the Nikkei could face repercussions.
U.S. Indices Are Not Strongly Bearish, but Risk Is Rising
S&P futures are threatening another decline within the daily TBO Cloud, which would signal another shift toward bearish consolidation. The RSI has been forming lower highs and lower lows, and a bullish RSI Reset has yet to materialize. That said, the broader U.S. index landscape is more complex than crypto. SPX, DJI, NDX, and NVDA are oscillating rather than displaying clear strong bearishness. The VIX remains strongly bearish, while SPCX’s sharp Monday drop adds a potential euphoria or top-signal narrative following a heavily promoted IPO.
Altcoins Show Scattered Tactical Signals Inside a Bearish Backdrop
The altcoin segment remains mixed but largely defensive. XRP, BNB, SOL, TRX, and several other major coins are either bearish or in bearish consolidation. HYPE nearly touched its daily TBO Fast line but still has room for a deeper Cloud test near the white ascending support line around $55. There are tactical exceptions: WLD is showing a 4-hour bearish reversal warning, DEXE has gained over 20%, AERO continues to look strongly bullish, H dropped 33%, and LAB produced a TBO Springboard Bounce from Saturday to Monday that resulted in a 65% move.
