17:05 CET – Half-time at the Nou Camp, and it’s been a tough first half for Barcelona. They have registered just one shot on target in the opening 45 minutes, as Real Oviedo have stood firm to take it down the tunnel 0-0 at the break.

17:00 CET – All over in our three mid-afternoon Premier League games, and Chelsea have moved up to fourth in the table after a relatively comfortable 3-1 win over free-falling Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest moved away from the relegation zone with a huge 2-0 victory over Brentford, whilst Aston Villa did their title charge no harm, beating Newcastle by the same scoreline at St James’ Park.

16:57 CET – Late drama in Serie A, where Genoa completed a remarkable comeback to beat Bologna 3-2, having been two down at half-time. It was Junior Messias who scored deep into stoppage time to win it for the hosts. Interestingly, all three of their goals came from substitutes.

16:48 CET – And that looks to be the victory for Aston Villa at Newcastle United. It’s been a battle at St James’ Park, but Ollie Watkins has popped up to make it 2-0 and secure the points for the title contenders.

16:44 CET – Is that the win for Nottingham Forest? Coming off the bench, Taiwo Awoniyi has slotted in their second of the game against Brentford to all but seal the three points.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have what looks like a consolation goal in the dying minutes against Chelsea through Chris Richards and a penalty box scramble. Too little, too late, it would seem.

16:40 CET – Parity in Genoa! The hosts have come from 2-0 down to level through Caleb Ekuban to set up a grandstand finish against Bologna.

16:37 CET – Another team now 3-0 up is Atalanta. Giacomo Raspadori gets his first goal since signing for the club earlier this month to secure all three points against Parma.

16:26 CET – Just over an hour to go before the big game of the day kicks off between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, and the team news is in.

The big call is the inclusion of striker Gabriel Jesus up front for the Gunners, whilst Michael Carrick sticks with the same team that beat Manchester City last weekend.

A long VAR decision ends with a handball against Jaydee Canvot, and Enzo Fernandez steps up to drill the resulting spot-kick into the corner to make it 3-0 at Crystal Palace. 16:09 CET – Chelsea aren’t too far behind! It’s another direct counter-attack that does for Crystal Palace as a four-pass move cuts them apart, and Joao Pedro provides the finish.

16:06 CET – Back underway across Europe in the 15:00 CET kick-offs, and it’s Bologna who have flown out the traps, putting themselves 2-0 up at Genoa, thanks to an own goal from Sebastian Otoa.

16:01 CET – Stuttgart have the lead against Borussia Monchengladbach! After Haris Tabakovic missed an earlier penalty for the home side, Jamie Leweling has struck on the half-hour mark to put the visitors in front.

15:55 CET – Atletico Madrid have continued their great LaLiga form with a domineering 3-0 win over Mallorca – Thiago Almada adding the third late on.

The victory moves them above Villarreal into third spot, but they are still seven points behind rivals Real in the standings.

15:50 CET – Plenty of half-time scores to bring you from across Europe, and we start in the Premier League, where each of the three games stands at 1-0.

Nottingham Forest take a slim, but valuable lead into the break against Brentford, whilst it is the same for both Chelsea and Aston Villa against Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, respectively.

Over in Serie A, it’s been a successful opening 45 minutes for Atalanta, who find themselves 2-0 to the good against Parma. Meanwhile, a Lewis Ferguson goal has Bologna one up away to Genoa.

In Ligue 1, Nice are now 3-1 in front against Nantes. Mohamed-Ali Cho added his second of the encounter before Sofiane Diop popped up with another. The home side were given some hope just before half-time, with Mostafa Mohamed netting. 

15:34 CET – Chelsea hit the front at Selhurt Park! After an even start to the game at Crystal Palace, Estevao breaks clear from the halfway line, takes the ball 40 yards, before slamming home a shot past Dean Henderson. Both sides have had chances in this first half, but it’s the Blues who lead.

15:20 CET – First blood to Aston Villa at St James’ Park! Newcastle find themselves behind in the 19th minute, after a strike from Argentine Emil Buendia – his fifth Premier League goal of the season and it’s another Villa goal from distance.

15:18 CET – Meanwhile, over in Ligue 1, Nice, who have been struggling for results in recent weeks, have a morale booster – netting in the opening stages through Mohamed-Ali Cho in their contest against Nantes.

The side from Barcelona have been one of the surprise packages in the league this season, finding themselves in contention for European places, despite lacklustre performances in their last three matches.

Meanwhile, Valencia, who, historically are the ones in that position, are fighting relegation this season, and need victories to lift themselves to safety.

Over in Serie A, Como now have a three-goal lead over Torino as they stroll to victory – Lucas De Cunha netting from the spot in the 59th minute.

16:21 CET – Half-time across Germany, and we haven’t had too much to shout about, with all the games having no more than one goal in them so far.

It’s business as usual for Bayern, who lead at the break, as do Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg.

16:10 CET – Bayer Leverkusen may have lost their last two in the Bundesliga, but they have the lead against Werder Bremen today, with Lucas opening the scoring eight minutes before the break.

16:07 CET – No Erling Haaland, no problem for Manchester City… Just six minutes into their Premier League clash against Wolves, his replacement, Omar Marmoush, puts the hosts ahead.

16:03 CET – Meanwhile, over in the Bundesliga, league leaders Bayern are ahead at home to Augsburg as Hiroki Ito nets his first of the domestic campaign thanks to a Michael Olise assist.

For the first time in LaLiga this season, they have picked up three points on the road, thanks to two last-gasp goals from Victor Munoz and Asier Osambela. A big confidence boost for them, and it lifts them above the defeated team, Rayo Vallecano, in the standings.

15:47 CET – Half-time beside Lake Como and it is Como who hold a 2-0 lead over Torino as the teams go down the tunnel.

If the score stays the same, they will move up into fifth place in the Serie A table.

Meanwhile, in the Bundesliga, perhaps the league’s most entertaining side, Eintracht Frankfurt, have the lead against third-placed Hoffenheim as loanee Arnaud Kalimuendo gets his first goal for the club.

15:41 CET – Fulham against Brighton, a game that feels almost like a derby, but certainly isn’t, kicks off at 16:00 CET, with both clubs mired in the mid-table battle and start the game with just one point between them.

The lineups are what you might expect from the two managers in what could be an entertaining affair.

Over to Ligue 1 and the big game of the day comes from the evening as third-placed Marseille host second-placed Lens. Victory for the visitors will see them return to the league’s summit and above holders PSG so there is plenty on the line. 

In Germany today, runaway Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich host Augsburg from 15:30 CET in what Vincent Kompany will be hoping is a routine win on the road to what feels like an inevitable title. 

And finally, in LaLiga, it is the last match of the day which headlines alongside Ligue 1 as shock title contenders Villarreal host second-placed Real Madrid in what is set to be a box-office clash. After Real Madrid’s emphatic win in the Champions League midweek, it will be fascinating if Alvaro Arbeloa can get the same tune out of his side for a vital game in LaLiga.
