SMYRNA, Tenn. (WSMV) – Update: The Smyrna Police Department reports that the suspect has barricaded themselves in the area on Tuesday afternoon.
“This is no longer an active shooter situation,” SPD said.

SPD reports that the situation is unfolding near Lee Victory Parkway at Legacy Wine & Spirits.

“Officers are on the scene. Please avoid the area,” SPD urged.
The affected area is close to Stewartsboro Elementary School, just several hundred yards away on Old Nashville Highway.
Despite students still on summer break, a spokesperson for Rutherford County Schools said they’ve been communicating with police about the situation.
“Our schools are not in session because of summer break, but we are sending an alert to principals because of the situation in case we have anyone on campus. Our safety director is also communicating with law enforcement, and we have been told the suspect is barricaded inside a business, so they are not running loose.”
