“Viking Wedding” – Sam and Jay try to impress their trendy city friends while a misplaced bookcase threatens Thor’s ability to deliver an important speech. GHOSTS explored more of Flower’s past in the midseason return when it was revealed that the previously teased “Others” were actually members of the cult that Flower (Sheila Carrasco) belonged to.
“It was a really fun episode to navigate, because on the page I really didn’t know when she was kind of under Bruce’s spell and when she wasn’t,” Carrasco tells Give Me My Remote in the video below. “And to get to play with, honestly, trying to just pretend like I had forgotten all the bad stuff about him the whole time was, like, really fun. So when we—Devan [Chandler Long, who plays Thorfinn] and I—got our scene in the hallway, it was just a great little twist of the knife to go, ‘A ha! I’m not so dumb!’”
“Any time Flower gets to do that, especially lately, these last couple seasons…[it just] feels great to play a different shade of her and all of that,” she continues. “And I think, like, [Thorfinn] got to see for sure Bruce’s power over Flower and over everyone else.”
“I kept pitching that Thor punches Bruce, maybe, like, I’ll just collar him up a little bit,” Long adds. When that request was denied, “I was like, ‘You’re telling me this guy’s killed thousands of people, and this dude is, like, trying to pull over on his girlfriend, and he’s just gonna [let it stand]? Like, chop his arm off! He’s a ghost. He can’t hurt him. Really, I’m like, something.”
“But, after seeing the episode, I was like, ‘Oh…it’s not about that,’” he continues. “That would have been more about Thor. And this episode wasn’t. It was about Flower overcoming her captors.”
Flower and Thor will have much simpler problems in “The List,” airing on Thursday, March 5: Their first real fight.
“It’s just a standard marital conflict that arises, in one format or another, and it is timeless,” Long previews. “Whether it is about a piece of furniture or a rug or artwork. It’s just, you know…no one sees eye-to-eye on everything that goes into their home. And sometimes conversations need to be had, and this kind of follows suit.”
“And sometimes women need to be listened to,” Carrasco adds. “It’s very relatable, this [episode]. I can’t wait for my [real-life] husband to watch it Thursday night.”
Carrasco also notes she and Long have been “angling” for Flower and Thorfinn to have some conflict.
“This felt like a long time coming, to get to do some kind of couples ‘Thorapy’ together,” she says. “And I think it’s only the beginning, to be honest, because I think as they stay together, there’s going to be more and more stuff like this. So it was fun to explore this very silly version of [a fight] over an armchair.”
