(This is a developing story and will be updated.)
Ahead of a weekend blizzard expected to bring howling winds and over a foot of snow, the area’s governments, businesses, churches and nonprofits are getting the word out on parking restrictions and potential closings.
Green Bay, De Pere, and most of their suburbs have declared snow emergencies, which are official declarations that forbid residents from parking vehicles on all streets in order for snowplows to operate.

Here is what’s new:
Most Brown County offices to close Monday
All non-essential services provided by the Brown County government will close to the public on Monday, March 16, according to a county news release. All departments deemed critical will remain operational.
Affected departments include the county clerk’s office, the library system, the courthouse and its clerk of courts, and the Aging and Disability Resource Center.
Remaining operational will be: The sheriff’s office, the dispatch center, the highway department, the airport, the community treatment center, as well as port and resource recovery.
Howard announces delayed garbage collection schedule
Normally scheduled trash collection in Howard will not be collected Monday, March 16, according to deputy clerk Ciara Hurrish.
Rather, all trash collection during the week will be delayed by one day. The village asked that all trash bins be placed by 6 a.m. on the day of pickup with all snow cleared around the bins.
NWTC in Green Bay cancels classes
Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay anounced that all locations will be closed Monday, March 16. The college has campuses in Green Bay, Marinette and Sturgeon Bay and centers in Aurora, Crivitz, Luxemburg, Oconto Falls and Shawano.

Life goes on in Green Bay forecast to get 16 inches of snow, which residents tried to plow away in the middle of the largest blizzard since 2018.
Watch party canceled for UWGB women’s basketball bracket
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay canceled a scheduled 6 p.m. Sunday watch party at The Bar on Holmgren Way, what was meant to celebrate the selection of the women’s basketball team’s bracket opponent in the NCAA tournament.
Bracket selections will still be aired on ESPN at 7 p.m.
Private businesses curtail, cut operations
With on-street parking forbidden across most communities in Brown County and worsening snow, private businesses of all sorts are shuttering.
- Bass Pro Shops in Ashwaubenon will close its doors at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, citing weather conditions in a note posted to its doors.
- Piggly Wiggly’s Howard location is also closed Sunday, the store announced in a social media post.
- The Walmart located on West Mason Street, on Green Bay’s west side, has warned of limited availability for pickup and delivery services, though said it will remain open.
- Lion’s Mouth Bookstore in downtown also announced its Sunday closure.
Garbage collection in Green Bay to be delayed into the week
The Department of Public Works will not collect garbage in Green Bay on Monday, March 16, the department announced in a news release, saying that expected whiteout conditions will make «vehicle operation impossible for collection crews.»
Instead, in a similar measure to De Pere, all garbage collection in the city will be delayed by one day (Monday trash will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday trash will be on Wednesday, etc.).
Schools cancel Monday classes
The following school districts have canceled classes for Monday, March 16. There will be no after-school or evening activities.

Wrightstown declares snow emergency
The Village of Wrightstown announced, in a social media post, that the village was under a snow emergency until 6 p.m. Monday, March 16. Parking was forbidden on any of the village’s streets at the risk of towing, with costs borne by the vehicle’s owner.
Dick’s Family Foods closed Sunday
Dick’s Family Foods’ locations in Wrightstown and Sherwood will close early by 5 p.m. Sunday, March 15. The store expected to reopen 7 a.m. Monday, March 16.
Salvation Army Community Center, Kroc Church to close
The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay Corps Community Center and Kroc Church, on the city’s east side at 1315 Lime Kiln Road, will close March 15, the nonprofit said in a news release, citing weather conditions. The Salvation Army in a later news release that the location will not be open Monday, either.
The Salvation Army’s location on the west side, along Union Court, closes on Sundays except for church service, according to its website. The nonprofit has not issued any closure announcement for this west-side location.
Children’s Museum of Green Bay closes
The museum, 1230 Bay Beach Road, will be closed March 15 and reopen on March 17, according to a Facebook post. Its regular hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
Bay Park Cinema closing early
In a Facebook post shared March 14, Bay Park Cinema in Ashwaubenon announced it will close at 4 p.m. March 15 but noted that time could be moved ahead or pushed back depending on weather conditions.
Patrons who purchased tickets in advance through the Marcus Theatres website or app can receive a refund up to 30 minutes before their scheduled showtime through their confirmation email or at marcustheatres.com/ticket-refunds-and-exchanges.
Marcus Green Bay East Cinema had not yet posted any weather-related adjustments as of 8:30 a.m. March 15.
AVB Community Band concert canceled
AVB Community Band’s free «Echoes of Time» concert at 7 pm. March 16 at Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center has been canceled.
Super Ron’s closed in Pulaski
Super Ron’s Food Center in Pulaski will be closed Sunday, March 15, because of the weather, according to a Facebook post.
Green Bay Community Church closed
All scheduled services and activities on March 15 have been canceled, including services normally held at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., according to Green Bay Community Church at Howard.
EPIC Event Center concert canceled
The One Time at Band Camp concert March 15 at EPIC Event Center in Ashwaubenon has been canceled «to ensure the safety of the bands, patrons and staff,» according to the announcement on EPIC’s social media.
The 6:30 p.m. show was to be headlined by Saving Abel singer Jared Weeks and the rock band’s former singer, Scotty Austin, along with Danny Boone of Rehab and Tim King of Soil. Pulsifier, Gravel, Oray and Violenta were also on the bill.
All tickets will be refunded. The venue is working to book a replacement date.
Mulva Cultural Center to close
The Mulva Cultural Center in De Pere will be closed March 15 due to the weather. However, it will be open all day on March 14, beginning at 10 a.m.
Lambeau Field Atrium will close
The Green Bay Packers announced in a news release that the Lambeau Field Atrium and all businesses inside, like the Packers Pro Shop and 1919 Kitchen & Tap, will close on Sunday, March 15. Stadium tours through Lambeau Field and the Packers Hall of Fame will also be unavailable.
The Packers said the Atrium is expected to reopen Monday, March 16, but will monitor the weather to determine any schedule changes.
Area school districts to close facilities over the weekend
Several school districts will close facilities to the public.
The Green Bay School District canceled all previously scheduled open gym practices and all school buildings for Sunday, March 15, «in an abundance of caution,» the school district said. Musical performances at West High School have also been rescheduled to 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.
The De Pere School District will close all district buildings at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 14, and will not reopen until Monday, March 16. All scheduled activities for Sunday are canceled.
The Howard-Suamico School District will close its buildings from 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, through Sunday, March 15.
The Pulaski School District will close all district property on Sunday, March 15, including the pool and fitness center. All Sunday programming is canceled or rescheduled, the district said.
Catholic diocese recommends Saturday Mass
Bishop David Ricken, head of the Diocese of Green Bay, said he advised priests for Sunday Mass, saying that he trusted each priest to make the best decision for their community. The bishop recommended that congregants attend Saturday Mass.
At least three parishes have asked their community to follow the bishop’s guidance: the Quad Parishes, in Green Bay; St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, in Green Bay; and St. Willebrord Parish, in Green Bay.
St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in Howard said it will livestream its Saturday afternoon Mass.
The Nativity of Our Lord Parish, in Ashwaubenon, postponed its Knights of Columbus booyah and breakfast sale to the following weekend, as well as its reverse food pantry collection.
Holy Cross Parish, in Green Bay, rescheduled its Sweet Treat Sunday for the following weekend. However, the parish will still hold its regularly scheduled masses this weekend, but asked parishioners to exercise their best judgment.
Ashwaubenon delays Monday garbage pickup
Garbage typically scheduled for Monday collection will be delayed until Tuesday, March 17, the village announced in a social media post. The delay will not affect other pickup days during the week, the village said.
Denmark declares snow emergency
The Village of Denmark’s Office of Emergency Management declared a snow emergency from noon Sunday, March 14, to noon Tuesday, March 17.
Parking on any of the village’s roads will be prohibited, and vehicles found to be in violation of the emergency declaration may be towed at the owner’s expense.
Public and special transportation options canceled or expected to narrow
Curative Connections, the nonprofit that provides specialized transportation options for seniors and those with disabilities, will suspend all transportation services on Monday, March 16, according to a news release. The nonprofit cited its concerns to keep drivers and those they serve safe.
Green Bay Metro, the primary public transportation service in the region, said in a social media post that its services “may be affected” given weather conditions.
Snow and gusts may cause whiteout conditions and blowing snow across highways, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
‘Mean Girls’ performances shuffled
Show times for Green Bay West High School’s production of “Mean Girls: High School Version” have been adjusted due to the storm.
The performance at 7 p.m. March 13 will go on as scheduled. The March 14 show has been moved from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. A show planned for 1 p.m. March 15 has been moved to 1 p.m. March 14.

Neville Public Museum closed
The Brown County Neville Public Museum in downtown Green Bay will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. March 14, but will be closed March 15 and reopen at noon March 17.
MadHatters concert canceled
A concert by University of Wisconsin-Madison men’s a cappella group The MadHatters at 7 p.m. March 14 at the Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center has been canceled.
The decision was made “for the safety of our patrons and the students who would be driving back to Madison after their evening concert with us,” according to an announcement on the PAC’s website.
Refunds for ticket holders will automatically be issued to the original form of payment. For additional information, contact TicketStar at 920-494-3401.
Green Bay Blizzard home opener postponed
The Green Bay Blizzard game against the Vegas Knight Hawks scheduled for 3 p.m. March 15 at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon has been moved to 6 p.m. March 16. It is the indoor football team’s home opener and billed as «Faith & Family Night.»
Tickets will be honored at the new date; no new tickets are needed to scan. For those unable to attend the March 16 game, tickets can be exchanged for a future 2026 regular season game by March 31. Call the Resch Center box office at 920-494-3401.
The team had a little fun announcing the postponement on Facebook: “Due to an actual blizzard, Sunday’s Blizzard football game has been rescheduled …”
National Railroad Museum to close
Due to the impending winter storm, the National Railroad Museum in Ashwaubenon will be closed March 15.
It will be open its regular hours until 4 p.m. March 13 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 14. It will reopen from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 17. The museum is closed Mondays in March.
Pulaski garbage collection will be delayed
Garbage collection in Pulaski will start later than usual on Monday, March 16, the village said in a social media post.
Trash collection will begin at 8 a.m. with the hope to collect all garbage within the day, the post said. For residents who have garbage that’s unable to be collected, the village will allow extra bags to be placed next to the trash container, the village said.
Ledgeview declares snow emergency
Ledgeview’s public works director Greg Potts announced a snow emergency for the town to run from noon Sunday, March 15, until noon Tuesday, March 17. Vehicles parked on the town’s streets may be towed at the owner’s expense, Potts said.
Normal garbage collection was not expected to be impacted, according to Potts.
NEW Zoo & Adventure Park to close for 2 days
NEW Zoo & Adventure Park in Suamico will be closed March 15 and 16 due to severe weather. The closure includes the zoo, Neil Anderson Canopy Tour and winter equipment rentals at the Adventure Park.
The zoo’s animal care team will be at the zoo to ensure all of the animal residents are taken care of, and maintenance staff will be on-site to clear snow and to prepare for normal operations to resume on March 17.
Green Bay declares snow emergency
A snow emergency will take effect in Green Bay from 6 p.m. Saturday, March 14, until noon Monday, March 16, according to city communications director Michael Bergman.
No vehicles may park on any of the city’s streets or risk being towed at the owner’s expense. All parking garages in the city will remain open and free Saturday and Sunday «should the need arise,» Bergman said.
The city asked that residents not drive except in case of emergency.
Lawrence declares snow emergency
Town chairman Lanny Tibaldo announced a snow emergency for Lawrence from 6 p.m. Saturday, March 14, to noon Monday, March 16. He said vehicles parked in the town’s streets could result in law enforcement action and, ultimately, towing at the owner’s expense.
Tibaldo said the town hall will also close on Monday to walk-in services.
Suamico announces a two-day snow emergency
Village administrator Alex Kaker announced that Suamico will enter a snow emergency from noon Sunday, March 15, until noon Tuesday, March 17, as confidence grew about the weekend’s winter storm.
Garbage collection on Monday through the village’s contracted service would begin «later than normal,» Kaker said.
Hobart announces snow emergency
Hobart administrator Aaron Kramer declared a snow emergency from 6 p.m. Saturday, March 14, to noon Monday, March 16. Vehicles parked in the street may be removed by the police or public works department with costs to the vehicle’s owner.
Kramer asked residents not to travel «unless absolutely necessary,» saying that reduced traffic allowed the public works department «to do its most effective job.»
The duration of the emergency may be extended depending on weather conditions, Kramer said.
Howard declares snow emergency, travel advisory
Village President Burt McIntyre declared a snow emergency from 6 p.m. Saturday, March 14, through noon, Monday, March 16, asking that vehicles be kept in driveways. Any vehicle parked, stuck, or abandoned in the street would be towed at the owner’s expense, the declaration said.
The announcement implored residents to avoid all unnecessary travel. All vehicles with low clearances and two-wheel drive were likely to be stranded after 10 p.m. Saturday, the announcement said.
Garbage collection will not be impacted, according to the announcement. However, the village cancelled all special pick ups that were scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.
Ashwaubenon declares snow emergency of over 60 hours
Ashwaubenon President Mary Kardoskee announced a snow emergency from 10 p.m. Saturday, March 14, to 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 17.
Kardoskee said the village retains the right to extend the snow emergency if conditions warrant. The village cited state statute that it said gave the village the right to tow vehicles parked for non-emergency circumstances.
Bellevue declares snow emergency, expects garbage delays
Bellevue’s Department of Public Works announced a snow emergency from 10 p.m. Saturday, March 14, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, March 17. No overnight parking requests will be granted, and vehicles found during the emergency may be towed at the owner’s expense, the department said.
The village was told by its garbage and recycling contractor that garbage collection on Monday will start «later than usual» and could continue later into the day. Homes that are unable to be reached «will be bypassed and serviced on the next regularly scheduled pickup day,» the village announced. Extra bags may be placed outside should the contractor miss their regularly scheduled pickup, the village said.
Allouez declares snow emergency, adjusts garbage schedule
The village on March 13 said the snow emergency will be in effect from 11 p.m. Saturday, March 14, through 6 p.m. Monday, March 16.
You cannot park on village streets during the emergency.
Also, garbage pickup on March 16 will be delayed by a day.
De Pere declares snow emergency, suspends Monday garbage collection
The city on March 13 issued the snow emergency. It will be in effect from 11 p.m. Saturday, March 14, through 6 p.m. Monday, March 16.
The De Pere Police Department said in a news release that several rounds of plowing will need to happen «because of the amount of snow predicted» and «the likelihood of drifting due to high winds.» The police department warned that vehicles on the streets during the snow emergency are subject to towing at the owner’s expense «which no one wants to see.»
Garbage and recycling will not be collected on Monday, the police department announced. Regular collection will resume the following day, with delays cascading into the week (Monday collections will be Tuesday, Tuesday collections will be on Wednesday, etc.)
Funeral postponed for former Packers president Bob Harlan
Funeral service at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in downtown Green Bay and a celebration of life in the Lambeau Field Atrium for former Packers CEO and president Bob Harlan have been postponed.
Originally scheduled for Monday, March 16, they have been rescheduled for Monday, March 23.
