HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – Harbe Nagi, a 7-year-old boy with autism who is the nephew of Hamtramck Mayor Adam Alharbi, has been found dead, according to the mayor on Tuesday.

Authorities in upstate New York searched for Harbe Nagi and previously said he may need medical attention.

Harbe was reported missing on June 28 in the village of Menands, near Albany. Police said the child was nonverbal and believed to be barefoot.

Authorities described Harbe as approximately 3’7” tall. His clothing description was not immediately available.

Police and emergency crews used multiple search tactics to locate the boy, including deploying an ice cream truck in the hope that its familiar music would draw him out if he is hiding nearby.

Officials have not released additional details about his disappearance.

On June 30, Alharbi said on Facebook that Harbe was found dead.

“Thank you to everyone who helped in the search,” he said on Tuesday.

The circumstances surrounding the child’s death are not known.
