IPL Auction LIVE: Follow Latest Updates

IPL Auction LIVE: Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma stole the spotlight as the costliest Indian buys of the day, with CSK shelling out a massive INR 14.2 crore for each. The duo also etched their names into the record books as the joint most expensive uncapped players in auction history. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals made a significant move by snapping up Auqib Nabi Dar for INR 8.4 crore. Cameron Green struck gold at the auction, justifying the hype as KKR broke the bank to rope him in for INR 25.2 crore. A fierce bidding war with CSK saw both sides go all guns blazing before the three-time champions had the final say, with the deal eclipsing Mitchell Starc’s record for the most expensive overseas buy.

In contrast, Venkatesh Iyer saw his stock dip sharply. Picked up by RCB for INR 7 crore, he attracted interest from his former team KKR, but the franchise stopped short of the all-out pursuit that defined last season.

The IPL caravan arrives in Abu Dhabi today for the mini-auction that promises fireworks and strategic battles as 10 franchises look to fine-tune their squads ahead of the 2026 season. Starting at 2:30 PM IST, the one-day event at the Etihad Arena will see 369 players – 244 Indians and 115 overseas – vie for 77 available slots.

The Green Rush

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green dominates pre-auction conversations. Listed at the maximum base price of INR 2 crore, the 26-year-old could trigger a bidding war that might eclipse INR 25 crore. KKR and CSK, armed with the two biggest purses, are expected to battle fiercely for his services. Green’s absence from IPL 2025 due to injury has only heightened his value, his T20 numbers speak volumes.

Power Brokers

Kolkata Knight Riders enter with an unprecedented INR 64.30 crore purse and 13 slots to fill. Having released Andre Russell, Quinton de Kock and Venkatesh Iyer, they are in full rebuild mode. Chennai Super Kings follow with INR 43.30 crore, desperate for all-rounders after trading away Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.

At the other end, Mumbai Indians sit with a mere INR 2.75 crore, the auction will be mostly a formality for the five-time champions.

The premium list

40 players have set their base price at INR 2 crore, with Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi the only Indians in that elite bracket. The marquee list includes David Miller, Steve Smith, Quinton de Kock, Liam Livingstone, Matheesha Pathirana, and Jamie Smith.

The overseas maximum fee rule caps foreign players’ earning at INR 18 crore, even if their winning bids are beyond that.

Team Priorities

KKR: Explosive opener-keeper, pace bowling reinforcements, Russell replacement

CSK: Elite all-rounders, Pathirana buyback or a death overs expert, middle-order firepower

RCB: Fast bowling depth as Hazlewood backup, middle-order backup

DC: An opener as the first priority

SRH: Experienced spinner, overseas finisher, pace bowling depth

LSG: Middle-order power hitter, pace backup with injury concerns

Wildcards to watch

Uncapped players Auqib Nabi, Ashok Sharma, Prashant Veer, Kartik Sharma, and Salil Arora have caught franchise scouts’ attention. Abhimanyu Easwaran has emerged as a last-minute addition to the registered list.

The Nostalgia Factor

This marks the third consecutive year the auction will take place outside India, continuing a trend that has also seen it head to Dubai and Jeddah. No RTM cards are available in this mini-auction, meaning teams like KKR must bid aggressively if they want someone like Venkatesh Iyer back.

With INR 237.55 crore in the collective purse available and strategic masterminds plotting their moves, today’s auction promises to reshape championship aspirations and set the tone for an electrifying IPL 2026 season.

IPL Player Auction LIVE: CSK dominated the Indian buys as Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma emerged as the biggest domestic names of the day, fetching 14.2 crore each and setting a new benchmark as the joint most expensive uncapped players in auction history. Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, showed strong intent by investing 8.4 crore in Auqib Nabi Dar. The headline act, however, was Cameron Green, who hit the jackpot after KKR splurged a staggering 25.2 crore to secure his services. An intense tug-of-war with CSK pushed the price through the roof, with KKR eventually sealing a deal that surpassed Mitchell Starc’s record for the costliest overseas signing at the auction.

IPL Player Auction LIVE: KKR, CSK ruling the roost!

IPL Player Auction LIVE: The chart summarises each franchise’s highest outlay so far, highlighting both spend intensity and bidding pressure. KKR’s top buy (Cameron Green, 25.2cr) is a clear outlier and also the longest bidding war, signalling aggressive top-end allocation. CSK’s leading purchase (Prashant Veer, 14.2cr) shows strong willingness to pay for a scarce role. DC’s top buy (Auqib Nabi, 8.4cr) is the main mid-tier spike. RR and RCB sit in the 7cr band (Bishnoi/Iyer), suggesting targeted upgrades rather than purse-dominant strategy. LSG, MI, GT and SRH remain comparatively conservative to this point.

CSK follows with 30.4 crore invested in three premium picks, averaging 10.13 crore per player—the tournament’s highest. Delhi Capitals ( 12.4cr), RCB ( 9cr), and Rajasthan Royals ( 8.7cr) round out the top five spenders. Notably, PBKS remains inactive with their entire 11.5 crore purse intact, while the Mumbai Indians have barely participated ( 1cr spent). With 289 players still unsold, teams retain significant firepower for subsequent rounds. KKR and DC lead overseas recruitment with three and two internationals, respectively.on LIVE:

IPL Auction LIVE: CSK’s auction gamble!

IPL Auction LIVE: CSK’s auction gamble saw uncapped Indian talents Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma skyrocket from INR 30 lakh base to INR 14.20 crore – a staggering 47.3x multiplier, the highest in IPL 2026. Delhi Capitals’ Auqib Nabi followed with a 28x jump (INR 30L to INR 8.4 cr). KKR’s Cameron Green, despite commanding the auction’s highest absolute price (INR 25.2 cr), registered a «modest» 12.6x increase due to his INR 2 crore base. These astronomical multipliers underscore franchises’ desperation for emerging Indian talent, with uncapped players offering value and flexibility. The trend reveals teams prioritising potential over proven pedigree, banking on breakout performances.

IPL Auction LIVE: Auction rewarding domestic T20 leagues stars!

IPL Auction LIVE: Prashant Veer. Kartik Sharma. Auqib Nabi. These are hardly household names in their own state, let alone the country, yet they are the three who attracted the highest bids among Indian players in the first round of the mini auction. The emergence of this uncapped trio highlights two significant factors: 1) The mushrooming of T20 leagues across the nation and, 2) The robust talent scouting mechanisms that have been put in place by all franchises.

Prashant and Kartik are both 20-year-olds who were snapped up by Chennai Super Kings, historically conservative when it comes to young, relatively unknown Indians, for 14.2 crore each, the joint highest for an uncapped player in IPL history. Nabi, much older at 29, went for 8.4 crore to Delhi Capitals. Right now, for this bunch of players, this might seem like an end in itself, but when the excitement settles down and when it’s time to confront reality, they will understand that this is just the beginning – more so for the 20-year-olds than for Nabi.

Amethi-born Prashant has played just two first-class games and nine T20 matches, but in the left-arm spinner and the hard-hitting left-hand batter, CSK see a long-term replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, traded to Rajasthan Royals. Apart from 12 wickets at an economy of 6.45, Prashant has scored at 167.16 per 100 balls faced in representative 20-over cricket. He came to prominence at the UP T20 league with 320 runs and eight wickets in 10 outings.

Kartik, who is also very competent behind the stumps, has smacked 28 sixes in 12 T20s and in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament, the Rajasthan youngster went after the experienced spin duo of left-armer R Sai Kishore (Tamil Nadu) and Shreyas Gopal (Karnataka). Last season, he trained with the CSK outfit and clearly impressed the men who matter, primary among them a certain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Other uncapped Indians too were in demand. Wicketkeeper-batters Mukul Choudhary and Tejasvi Singh were sold for 2.6 crore and 3 crore to Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively, LSG shelled out a cool 1 crore for pacer Naman Tiwari, and Ashok Sharma and Sushant Mishra, also fast bowlers, went for 90 lakh each to Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals respectively.

IPL Auction LIVE: Base Price vs Final Price analysis!

IPL Auction LIVE: The Base Price vs Final Price analysis reveals the auction’s most dramatic value appreciation stories. Cameron Green’s meteoric rise from a 2 crore base to 25.2 crore (12.6x increase) after 117 bids epitomizes the fierce competition. Matheesha Pathirana ( 18cr) and the duo of Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer ( 14.2cr each) similarly skyrocketed from modest base prices. The scatter plot’s red diagonal line represents price parity—every dot positioned above it signals premium buying. Larger circles indicate more competitive bidding wars, with the visualisation clearly demonstrating how franchises aggressively pursued key targets, often paying astronomical premiums over starting prices to secure their desired players.

IPL Auction LIVE: Lesser-known Auqib Nabi takes auction by storm!

IPL Auction LIVE: It was always on the cards that Auqib Nabi would attract great attention but even he would have been surprised at how fierce a war the franchises waged to secure his services. The uncapped all-rounder entered the fray at his base price of 30 lakh and walked away with a cool 8.4 crore, after Delhi Capitals staved off stiff competition.

Nabi is no newcomer; he made his first-class debut for Jammu and Kashmir nearly six years back and at 29 is a semi-veteran, having played 99 representative matches for his state and for North Zone. But it’s only of late that he has started to make people sit up and take notice of his all-round skills, but mainly his ability to swing the new ball. From Baramullah to the Arun Jaitley Stadium is a huge step up for Nabi, who has started to bowl well with the older ball too.

It had been a wonderful season already for Nabi before the auction. In J&K’s first five matches in the Ranji Trophy, he has picked up 29 wickets and has had a good run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy inter-state T20 competition as well. Primarily recognised as a bowler, Nabi is no mug with the bat either, though there is no guessing why he has been picked by the Capitals.

IPL Auction LIVE: CSK still have INR 41.40 crore!

IPL Auction LIVE: The purse meter instantly shows who can bully the room and who must shop smart. KKR have already thrown the first punch— 45.20 cr spent—yet still retain 19.10 cr, meaning they’re not done. LSG ( 18.95 cr) and DC ( 17.80 cr) are steady mid-table buyers. GT ( 12.90 cr) and PBKS ( 11.50 cr) stay flexible. RR ( 8.85 cr) and RCB ( 7.40 cr) are tightening. MI are nearly tapped out at 1.75 cr, so it’s bargain-hunting now for them, unless they offload.

IPL Auction LIVE: Is Matheesha Pathirana worthy of ₹18 crore?

IPL Auction LIVE: Identified by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and living up to his lofty billing for the first two years, Matheesha Pathirana has had a forgettable last couple of seasons, so he must have been delighted at having been snapped up for 18 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders. The 22-year-old Sri Lankan has used primarily at the death by CSK because of his ability to direct his yorkers with pinpoint accuracy with a slinging action and for his wonderful changes of pace, but after playing just six games in the 2024 season due to injury, he took only 13 wickets in 12 matches last season at a very high economy of 10.13 runs per over.

Plagued by injuries and struggling for control as he kept drifting wide down the leg-side, Pathirana hasn’t impressed with the national team either. Having let go of several quicks after the last season, KKR went all out for his services, overcoming strong challenges from Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. It’s anyone’s guess whether Pathirana is worth the purse at this stage, given his recent travails with form and fitness. The consensus is that he has hit a jackpot; it is up to him to prove that that is well deserved.

IPL Auction LIVE: Green lives up to expectations

IPL Auction LIVE: The IPL 2026 auction has got off to a start as expected. Cameron Green, tipped to be the biggest star attraction, did exactly that, racking up some solid moolah, with RCB shelling 25.2 crore for the Australian all-rounder. His fellow all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, though, didn’t go unsold but had to take a 71 per cent pay-cut. Such is the IPL auction.
