PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Storms and dust headed into the Valley this evening, with multiple weather warnings declared.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Phoenix around 6:30 p.m.

The NWS also issued a dust storm warning for much of the southeast Valley. That warning was expanded to much of the West Valley, ending at 7:45 p.m.

Just ahead of that dust warning, the NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Florence area, as well as a Dust Storm Advisory near Casa Grande and Maricopa.

The storms over Pinal County could produce areas of blowing dust that drift toward communities like Queen Creek this evening. Still, we’re not expecting dust to be as widespread or intense as it was Sunday night.

High temperatures reached 107 degrees this afternoon.

Monsoon moisture will stick around through the week, keeping humidity levels elevated. Highs will remain around 107 to 108 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday, with a slight chance of evening showers and thunderstorms both days.

Rain and storm chances increase Thursday and Friday, making both days First Alert Days.

In addition to the higher storm potential, much cooler temperatures are on the way. Highs are expected to drop to around 101 degrees Thursday and into the mid-90s Friday. Temperatures stay in the upper 90s on Saturday with a chance of a few morning showers before warming back to around 102 degrees on Sunday.

The High Country will also remain active, with scattered showers and thunderstorms through midweek and more widespread storm activity expected late in the week.
