The Arizona Cardinals are starting Jacoby Brissett at quarterback for the third consecutive game, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Saturday.
Gannon said that Kyler Murray’s foot is not ready at this point, even after the Cardinals’ Week 9 bye.

«We’ve been pushing, he’s been pushing,» said Gannon, who noted that Murray could still have a role in Monday night’s road game against the Dallas Cowboys depending on how practice goes before then.
Murray has remained limited this week with the mid-foot sprain that he suffered against the Tennessee Titans in Week 5 and that’s sidelined him the past two games.
Brissett has thrown for at least 279 yards in both of his starts this season while posting a 4:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio and, according to PFF, connecting on a combined eight passes of 20-plus air yards, two more than Murray has completed all season.
Arizona has dropped five straight games by a total of 13 points.

Staying in the NFC West, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua will return Sunday after missing time with a sprained left ankle.
Nacua was injured in Week 6 and started practicing again this week, saying he feels «fantastic» and «ready to go» as the Rams face the New Orleans Saints this week.
«It’s good to be back out on the football field, moving around, getting a good sweat in, put my feet in the ground,» Nacua said. «It’s been good. We had a nice Thursday practice, so finally get to hit somebody. It feels like it’s been too long for sure, but it felt great to be back out there.»
The Rams were without Nacua for only one game as they were on their bye week in Week 8.

Through six games, Nacua has recorded 616 receiving yards, 54 catches and 2 touchdowns.
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, who has missed three games with a knee injury, will also be back in Week 9.
Bowers said on Wednesday that he’s «ready to roll» against the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing practice for two weeks before returning on Oct. 17.
[NFL injury updates live]
«He’s back,» said Raiders head coach Pete Carroll. «Last week, he looked good every day, particularly good on the Monday practice. And he kind of stole the show a little bit. So, we’re thrilled to have him back.»

Bowers was dealing with a PCL injury and a bone bruise in his left knee that was suffered in Week 1. After playing through it, he was shut down following Week 4.
«It sucked, to be honest,» Bowers said. «But it’s in the past. I’m excited to get back out there.»
Other notable Week 9 injuries:
-
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter has been placed on injured reserve and will miss at least the next four weeks. Hunter suffered the non-contact knee injury during Thursday’s practice. When asked if the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner would return this season, head coach Liam Coen would only say, «We’re still evaluating it.»
-
The Kansas City Chiefs will be without running back Isiah Pacheco due to a sprained knee ligament suffered last week against Washington. That means more carries for Kareem Hunt and potentially more responsibility for backups Brashard Smith and Elijah Mitchell.
-
Mac Jones will start in place of Brock Purdy for the fifth game in a row, but Purdy — who is officially «questionable» with his nagging toe injury — could be available Sunday against the New York Giants, according to San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. Purdy has been dealing with a turf toe variant that he first picked up in the season opener and then aggravated in Week 4.

Jacoby Brissett will start his third straight game at quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Saturday.
Gannon noted that Kyler Murray is making progress in recovering from his foot injury and could have a role Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
Brissett has thrown for at least 279 yards in both of his starts this season while posting a 4:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio and, according to PFF, connecting on a combined eight passes of 20-plus air yards, two more than Murray has completed all season.

An AC joint sprain in his right shoulder won’t stop Joe Flacco from playing Sunday against the Bears, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Flacco, who threw on Friday and said he felt «pretty good,» is listed as questionable for Week 9 after not practicing earlier in the week.
«I thought he did a nice job out there,» said Bengals head coach Zac Taylor. «I saw what we would hope to see for a guy to be able to play on Sunday. Now we’ll just work through the next few days to see where it ends up.»

Jones is 4-2 as the 49ers’ starter this season.

The Cardinals are coming out of a bye week with the hope of starting Kyler Murray in Week 9. But during practice on Friday, Murray was spotted throwing to Arizona’s second-team receivers, while backup QB Jacoby Brissett took first-team reps.
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed to reporters that Murray, who has missed two games with a foot injury, is prepping to play in Monday’s game against the Cowboys. But Gannon stayed pretty vague about the whole thing, and Friday’s practice doesn’t necessarily show confidence in Murray’s ability to start on Monday.

After missing last week’s loss to the Bills due to an ankle injury, Bryce Young is off the Panthers’ injury report.
Andy Dalton filled in for Young in the 40-9 loss to Buffalo, throwing 16-for-24 for 175 yards and an interception. In other words, Carolina will be happy to have Young back when they face the Packers.

Two weeks after exiting a game due to a hamstring injury, the Commanders have their QB1 back. Jayden Daniels, who returned to practice this week, is back, and will start in Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

In the midst of a bleak 2-7 season, the Dolphins and general manager Chris Grier have mutually agreed to part ways after a meeting Friday morning.
Grier has been in the Dolphins’ organization since 2000, starting as a scout before gradually moving his way up the ranks. He was promoted to be the team’s general manager in 2016.
The move comes after Miami fell 28-6 to the Baltimore Ravens in a brutal loss on Thursday Night Football.
Mike McDaniel will reportedly remain head coach for the rest of the 2025 season.

The Jaguars WR/CB suffered a non-contact knee injury during Thursday’s practice. When asked if Hunter would return this season, head coach Liam Coen would only say, «We’re still evaluating it.»
«You just feel bad for the guy, for the kid, for our team, for everything,» Coen said. «But he’s in good spirits right now. Minor setback for a major comeback. That’s just the way it’s gotta be.»
Hunter is coming off the best game of his young career. During last week’s 35-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner made 8 receptions on 14 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Hunter is eligible to return ahead of their Week 13 game against the Titans.

Jackson, the Bengals’ third-round draft pick in 2024, has been healthy scratched for six of Cincinnati’s first eight games this season.
According to ESPN’s Ben Baby, Jackson joins linebacker Logan Wilson as players who have requested to leave the Bengals. Defensive tackle Mike Pennel was released after reaching a non-injury settlement with the team and he has since signed with the Chiefs.
